Find the right opportunities
Discover exceptional African conservation organizations and projects aligned with what matters to you.
There are extraordinary organizations protecting some of Africa’s most extraordinary places.
Finding them is hard.
Knowing which ones to trust is harder still.
Cause Crafted helps philanthropists find exceptional African conservation opportunities and create meaningful impact.
African conservation is full of compelling stories.
But a beautiful story doesn’t necessarily mean a strong organization. And a famous organization isn’t necessarily the one doing the most important work.
If you’re serious about protecting Africa’s wild places, you need to know more.
First, I spend time getting to know conservation organizations, their leaders, their landscapes and their ambitions.
Then I help funders make sense of what they are seeing.
That might mean curating a small number of promising organizations, researching a particular landscape or conservation challenge, assessing an opportunity, helping local leaders sharpen what they are proposing, shaping a portfolio, making introductions, or accompanying you into the field so you can see the work for yourself.
When Choosing Whether to Fund a Conservation Project or Organization
Sometimes the answer is “yes, absolutely”.
Sometimes it is “not just yet”.
And occasionally it is “don’t touch it, here is why”.
Good philanthropy needs all three answers.
Discover exceptional African conservation organizations and projects aligned with what matters to you.
Look beyond the pitch: the leadership, governance, local trust, finances, conservation value, community commitments, and whether the organization genuinely has what it takes to deliver.
Create thoughtful, sustainable funding relationships rather than a collection of disconnected grants.
The strongest conservation is rooted in place. Shaped by the people who live there, know the landscape intimately, and have the greatest stake in its future.
The people doing the conservation should remain the heroes.

Africa already has remarkable people protecting wildlife, landscapes and communities.
What many of them need is thoughtful funding, strong relationships and courageous philanthropists willing to look beyond the obvious names.
Cause Crafted exists to help make those connections.
Raised barefoot and mostly feral in the African bush, Tommi Wolfe grew up in Africa’s wild places, fell in love with them and her heart still beats for them. She later spent decades building businesses, leading organizations, raising millions and learning how money moves. Tommi brings this rare combination, African conservation on one side, business and philanthropy on the other, to every engagement.
Along the way, she ran an African gorilla conservation nonprofit, helped return gorillas to the wild and conceived a conservation corridor later recognized in Congolese law. She also discovered a passion for connecting people who want to change the world with wild places worth saving.
Today, Tommi helps philanthropists look beyond the beautiful story to the things that really matter: exceptional leadership, strong organizations, ambitious ideas—and whether they have a fighting chance of working.
Perhaps you already support African conservation.
Perhaps you’re wondering where your philanthropy could have the greatest impact.
Or perhaps you simply know you want to help protect wild places and don’t quite know where to begin.
I’d love to hear what you’re thinking. Let’s have a conversation.
Because giving well shouldn’t only feel responsible. It should feel extraordinary.
